'Invest
in Thyself to
Tap Inner Potential'
Spiritualist
Tells Cops
'Invest
in Yourself'
was the topic
for a talk by
eminent spiritual
exponent Jaya
Row at the Police
Club in Mumbai
recently.
Invited by Police
Commissioner
D. Sivanandhan
specially to
address a select
gathering of
more than 200
officers and
men of the Mumbai
Police, Ms.
Row said that
most solutions
to life's problems
sprung from
within and were
not provided
from the external
world.
Stressing the
point that everyone
was born for
perfection,
she said the
untapped potential
that lay within
was far greater
than the externally
tapped one.
She asserted
that this was
because man
was trapped
by the Three
Es - namely
Entertainment,
Excitement and
Exhaustion.
One 'E' led
to the other
and thereafter
created a vicious
circle, she
added.
“An individual
is able to perform
well if his
mind is calm
and at ease,
leading to perfect
and brilliant
action. This
needn't happen
just once but
can be a repetitive
process,”
Ms.Row said.
If the mind
got agitated
performance
became bad.
So according
to the Vedic
texts, brilliance
was the outcome
of a focused
mind, she explained.
“Stress
can be realized
and managed
by oneself.
The intellect
played the role
of the deciding
factor in all
actions. While
the mind was
driven by instant
pleasures caused
by desires that
were within,
an important
aspect in a
man's life affecting
performance
was motivation.
Deficiency in
motivation led
to poor performance,”
Ms. Row said.
Earlier, introducing
the distinguished
speaker, Sivanandhan
said that Ms.
Row, a microbiologist-turned-spiritualist,
provided self-management
solutions which
had their origins
in the Vedas.
Her mission
was to enable
people to understand
and realize
their potential
through methods
contained in
the Vedas, the
top cop added.
Emphasizing
the need for
stress management
by policemen,
Sivanandhan
pointed out
that the process
of self-realization
and introspection
was the first
step towards
self-management.
Choosing one's
vocation solely
on the lure
of higher remuneration
and not for
the love of
the job limited
performance.
Actions could
be categorized
as being selfish,
unselfish and
selfless. All
actions with
the intention
of giving invariably
always succeeded,
Ms. Row said.
Changing one's
attitude towards
life and vocation
in particular
was most important
as that would
be the guiding
force in deciding
goals. Moving
to a higher
ideal in life
unlocked positive
energy and eventually
gave peace.
It was advisable
to approach
a chosen vocation
with love and
affection and
not as a hobby,
she said.
Ms. Row ended
on an optimistic
note where she
talked about
the need to
bring about
change through
introspection.
There were a
few questions
raised after
the talk based
on the importance
of Swadharma
v/s Paradharma.
On this issue
she said that
Swardharma is
what everyone
should pursue
as that alone
was the true
rule while Paradhrama
was action based
on body-consciousness.
Man was caught
up in a life,
birth and death
cycle and paid
very little
or no attention
to higher goals
and ideals.
Speaking to
THE PROTECTOR
after the talk
Ms. Row said
that she would
be willing to
be involved
more in such
sessions to
create positive
thoughts in
the police force
as she owed
a special gratitude
to them at a
personal level.
Additional Commissioner
of Police (Headquarters)
Sandeep Bishnoi
who was also
present at the
talk said, “Positivity
and contemplation
are the keys
to success.
Enhancing intellect
and reducing
dependency on
mind is most
important.”
