Special Economic Zones - Hidden Opportunity for Healthcare

The Indian healthcare sector has crossed the mark of US$34 billion and is projected to touch US$ 40 billion mark by 2012, which explains why India's Ministry of External Affairs is prioritizing healthcare to attract FDI.

A study by McKinsey & Company had projected healthcare spending to increase from Rs 86,000 crore in 2000-2001 to Rs 2,00,000 crore in 2010. Bhuj Hospital Now Earthquake-Resistant

The new Bhuj Hospital is the first building in India to be fitted with a New Zealand-developed lead - rubber base- isolation system that will be able to stand a tremor of 10 on the Richter scale. There are plans to extend the facility into a teaching hospital and boost its capacity to 500 beds.
