Power Station at Himachal Pradesh in North India surpasses 6000 MU ahead of time |
|
Nathpa
Jhakri Hydro Power Station has become the first single hydro power station
of the country to surpass 6000 million units of electricity generation
on 7 February 2008; much ahead of the close of the Financial Year (2007-08).
This highest generation has been achieved besides all odds which the plant
faced like adverse hydrology, flash floods and high-silt contents. Besides
benefiting the beneficiaries and India as a whole, this would bring higher
revenues to equity partner which is the Government of Himachal Pradesh
with 12% free power and 22% power on account of their energy share.
The power generation of Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station during the last Financial Year 2006-07) was 5941 million units and during the current year already surpassed 6000 MU which was stated by Shri R.P. Singh, Director (Electrical) of the public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. which had implemented this project. As a result of such performance, the Company has been able to pay dividends to the shareholders which are the governments of India and Himachal Pradesh from the very first year of its commercial operation itself. Shri R.P. Singh informed that the generation during the current period had also surpassed the MoU targets entered into with the Ministry of Power. Shri Singh hopes that the power station will be able to meet the MoU targets of 6400 million units for the year 2007-08. Shri Singh also stated that the Company had established spectacular achievements during the financial year 2006-07 and recorded net profits of Rs.732.71 crore as well as paid dividends of Rs. 235 crore to the equity partners for its performance during the financial year 2006-07. Since 2003 the power station
has been energizing the northern states namely Delhi, Haryana, Punjab,
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, J&K, Chandigarh and the home
state Himachal Pradesh with valuable power. |
