Canada wants a share of the Nano venture
Canada-based roll forming equipment and technology system manufacturer, Samco Machinery Ltd has partnered with the Tata Group to supply auto parts for the world's cheapest car Tata Nano. The Canadian company will produce parts for the Nano car which is valued at a hundred thousand rupees (Rs. 1 lakh which is $ 2,500). Bob Reprovs, President of the company confirmed that Tata would be sourcing the parts from Samco as there was no other company in India that was able to manufacture the auto parts.

Peter L. Nesbitt, Chief Representative (India) said that the Tata Nano would revolutionize the auto industry around the world, when addressing the Telfer India Forum at the University of Ottawa. This function was attended by a large number of Canadian companies, together organized by the Telfer School of Management, Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber and others.

The function was also addressed by Professor Michael J. Kelly, Dean of the Management School where he said that Canadian companies should not miss great business avenues in India. As a market, back office, research and development hub and source of future competitors, India should be on top of the mind for Canadian top executives said the Professor.

Harinder Takhar, Ontario Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Brad Duguid, Ontario Labour Minister, both of whom would be visiting the Samco facility in Toronto and would then provide more details on the collaboration.
