In a latest move to increase its networks in Canada, the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) has opened new offices in Halifax and Vancouver to promote trade, commerce and investment between the two countries, according to ICCC President Sunil Jagasia. The Halifax chapter is headed by Venkatesh Thyagarajan as its Chairman.

With the two new chapters, the members of ICCC would gain better access to markets opening the doors to networking, sharing ideas, information and experiences to promote mutual business success.

The Chamber has been in existence for the last 30 years and was now expanding to other parts of the country. Also, the chamber's 30-member delegation had participated in the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas held in early January 2008.

According to Thyagarajan, he plans on hosting, visiting Indian dignitaries and create networking opportunities for both Indo-Canadians and mainstream Canadians in the Atlantic region. He intends to work with the Port of Halifax and would be looking towards working with Nova Scotia Business Inc., the (Atlantic) gateway initiative, universities, private and public businesses in Atlantic Canada that is doing business with India. He intends to increase their visibility in India through its large membership.
