gets Thumbs Up for 25 New Projects |
| The Karnataka State High Level Committee (KSHLC) has cleared 25 industrial projects worth Rs 31,000 crore, according to official sources in Chief Minister Office. Among the projects, the government has cleared Rs 6,150 crore integrated steel plant to be set up by Bharat Mines and Minerals Ispat Ltd (BMMIL) in Bellary. The capacity of the plant would be two-million tonnes per annum (MTPA), official sources said. The Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB) of Union petroleum ministry would set up Rs 1,250 crore Indian Strategic Petroleum Research Project covering 160 acres of land in Mangalore. The KSHLC has also cleared Gulf Oil Corporation's Rs 850 crore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) proposal near Bangalore. Another SEZ for biotech would be set up by Gopalan Enterprises at a cost of Rs 190 crore. The KSHLC has also cleared Rs 1,000 crore hi-tech hospital to be established by Bangalore-based health major Narayana Hrudhayala near Bangalore. The proposal of Sathya Sai Hospitals to set up Rs 430 crore high-tech hospital near Bangalore has also been cleared. In addition, NEC Real Estate would set up an integrated township project with an investment of Rs 500 crore near Bangalore while Dan Hospitality India Ltd would set up a five-star hotel at a cost of Rs 200 crore in the IT city. With these projects, the official sources said that 2.5 lakh persons would get employment in Karnataka. |
