India's N-Power Outlook & Role
of Global N-Commerce

UBM India and the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, have jointly organized a free 'Webinar' on Nuclear Power for Energy Security of India - Role of International Civil Nuclear Commerce on
30 June, 2009.

In an announcement, UBM India said that the Webinar is one of the activities conducted as a prelude to India Nuclear Energy 2009 Exhibition and Conference and will include a short presentation on India Nuclear Energy 2009.

Giving the background to holding the Webinar and the upcoming exhibition and conference, the announcement said, "Today, nuclear energy produces one-sixth of the world's electricity and could produce far more. Recognizing this potential, India and China, have begun major expansions of nuclear energy infrastructure. Exponential growth in energy demand coupled with a finite availability of coal, oil, and gas has led to d renewed emphasis on nuclear energy. Moreover, nuclear energy is considered to be an environmentally benign source of energy. Only nuclear energy offers emissions-free energy on the massive and expanding scale the world so urgently requires.

"Looking at the importance of nuclear energy to effectively bridge the energy gap, UBM !ndia is pleased to announce India Nuclear Energy 2009 - International Exhibition and Conference from 13th -15th November 2009 of Mumbai."

The Guest Presenter for the Webinar is S. K. Malhotra, Head-Public Awareness Division, DAE. Since 1999 as Head, Public Awareness Division of Deportment of Atomic Energy, he is responsible for planning, overseeing and assessing the entire outreach programme of the Deportment of Atomic Energy with the objective of creating awareness about peaceful uses of atomic energy and to remove any apprehensions or misconceptions about them from the minds of general public and to attract young students towards science.
