Must Train Engineers to |
|
India's Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar has called upon the domestic industry to train young engineers to help the country tap the huge opportunities in the global nuclear market. "India will have huge opportunities to make a mark in the global nuclear arena, provided the domestic industry takes a lead in training young engineers," Kakodkar said in Mumbai recently, while addressing a CII meet in Mumbai recently. "We need to pay attention to our human resources. I think human resources is our strength and why should we not encash on that?" he said. "Current day engineers, who come out of colleges, understand nothing," Kakodkar said. "Scientists coming out of science colleges understand it, but they have no capability of engineering systems," he added. "Indian industry needs to participate in the training programme of these engineers to tap opportunities worldwide in the nuclear power sector in the future," Kakodkar said. "Globally, most of the nuclear business is in the hands of people who have already retired, because there are no other people. Or, it is in the hands of people who are about to retire in a few years time," he said. He said there was no denying the fact that India will
have huge opportunities in the nuclear power sector to make a mark on
the global scene, for which the country needs to start working right
away. |
